Worked example

A $100 link plan for a 20-post niche site

A worked example, clearly hypothetical, for a blogger who wants to buy backlinks for website cheap and has exactly one hundred dollars.

The plan in one breath

Seven links, three posts, one review date

We would split $100 across three money posts, buy cheap-to-mid rows in the same niche, hold back $15, and look at Search Console after eight weeks before touching the basket again.

  • Three target posts, not twenty
  • No row above $25
  • $15 kept in reserve

The imaginary site

Meet Sam, who does not exist. Sam runs a 20-post blog about home espresso gear, built eleven months ago, with six affiliate reviews and fourteen how-to posts.

Two reviews bring in nearly all the clicks. The numbers here are invented to make the maths concrete, so treat every figure as an illustration of method, not a forecast of what your site will do.

The rule we apply is old and boring: links go where money is already close. A page that sits at position 8 for its keyword has more to gain from a push than a page at position 60, and a post with no affiliate offer has nothing to gain at all.

Where the hundred dollars goes

Prices sit inside the marketplace range of $1 up to about $500; the split is our suggestion.
Target postLinksBudgetWhy
Best espresso machines under $500 (position 8)3$45Closest to page one, highest commission
Grinder comparison (position 14)2$25Strong intent, moderate competition
Milk frother review (position 11)2$15Cheap rows are enough here

What each dollar buys

At the low end, a $1 to $5 row means a smaller site with modest traffic. Fine for a supporting link to a minor post. Not what you want for the page that pays your hosting.

Read the red-flag list once, then shop. The $15 to $25 band is where we would shop for the main review. Filter by niche first, then language, then traffic above a floor you choose, and only then glance at Domain Rating, a metric from Ahrefs that is a rough guide and not a verdict.

We would skip anything priced like a trophy. A $400 row can be right for a page that earns thousands a month. It is the wrong row for a 20-post site watching every dollar.

The order of operations

  1. 1

    Pick the target pages

Open Search Console, sort pages by impressions, and choose posts sitting between positions 6 and 20 for a query that pays.

  2. 2

    Shortlist ten rows

Use the find-links filters for niche, language and traffic. Skip any donor whose topic has nothing to do with yours.

  3. 3

    Buy two links first

Put one in the basket for each of your top two posts. Wait for both to go live, usually about 24 hours.

  4. 4

    Space the rest

Order the remaining links over the next three to four weeks, not on the same afternoon.

  5. 5

    Review at week eight

Compare impressions and average position per target page. Decide whether the reserve gets spent or saved.

What this plan cannot do

It cannot fix thin content, a slow site or a page that answers the wrong query. If a post reads like it was written to fill a slot, no placement will rescue it. Improve the page first.
